By having the system inspected on regular bases you will find problems before the failure occurs. If a filter is not changed the system can not deliver the proper air flow thru the system causing discomfort, unused energy to go up the flue of the heating appliance, freeze the air conditioning coil and possible do damage to your compressor. Because of the dirty filter you have a dirty a/c coil which then causes the condensate to clog. When the condensate clogs and the water runs over the pan and then down into the ceiling below you need to repair the ceiling below. If the outdoor condenser coil is dirty or clogged the system can not dissipate the heat removed from the home and over heat the compressor and possible burn it out.
